THE PHILUX DISTINCTION IS ALL ABOUT MINIMALIST FUNCTIONALITY AND FILIPINO CRAFTSMANSHIP
The Philux distinction is all about minimalist functionality and Filipino craftsmanship
TODAY, more and more locallymade furniture and home accessories are making it big in the international scene for their exceptional quality and unique craftsmanship. World-class designs executed with material indigenous to our country have made our furniture pieces a sensation. One distinguished company chose to focus on Filipino craftsmanship using local raw materials.
“The signature Philux touch is how we highlight the beauty of local raw materials (solid wood, Filipino mattings like solihiya and abaca) in designs that still resonate in today’s trends and style,” says Philux VP and COO Stephanie Kienle- Gonzalez. Made from locally sourced materials that are mostly manufactured by hand, Philux’s showcase includes meticulously-made furniture and decor, embroidered textiles, and paintings.
Over the years, Philux has evolved into a more inclusive and more collaborative brand by working with Filipino artists and artisans who share the same reverence for design and craftsmanship.
Aside from taking pride in their Filipino roots, Philux aims to help their clients create unique spaces that are truly their own, and so they also offer personalization. According to Philux VP and head designer Jessica Kienle Maxwell, “We offer different kinds of wood, wood finish and fabric options, as well as choices for handles, mattings, and metal finish. Through this, we are able to cater to different tastes and create a space for clients to be creative.”
When asked what makes their furniture store stand out from the rest, Jessica says, “I think we are very amiable towards our competitors. We celebrate Filipino craftsmanship in its entirety and we are happy to see emerging furniture brands flourish. We value looking inwardly and constantly work hard on improving our brand further by, first and foremost, empowering our team.”
