Six hun­dred sixty seven (667) can­di­dates have filed their Cer­tifi­cates of Can­di­dacy for the up­com­ing elec­tion in the mu­nic­i­pal­i­ties around Palawan in­clud­ing the city of Puerto Princesa.

Provin­cial Elec­tion Of­fice said of the 667 can­di­dates 66 are run­ning for mayor, 49 for vice mayor, and 552 for mu­nic­i­pal and city coun­cilor. 522 of these can­di­dates are males and 145 are fe­males.

The town of Rizal has the high­est num­ber of COC’s be­ing filed with 45 can­di­dates, fol­lowed by Busuanga wih 39 can­di­dates, and Puerto Princesa City with 38 can­di­dates.

How­ever, there are five can­di­dates for provin­cial gov­er­nor which in­cludes re-elec­tion­ist Gov. Jose Ch. Al­varez, Christo­pher A. Mo­rales, Arthur R. Ven­tura, Marchelle G. Crispo and Richard M. Lopez.

While in the city of Puerto Princesa, 7 were to com­pete as may­ors which in­cludes Jimmy Canete, Luis Mar­caida III, Eliceo Oloroso, Ed­mundo Ka­ton, Mayor Lu­cilo Bay­ron and his daugh­ter Ju­dith “Raine Bay­ron”.

Nancy Socrates and Ro­ge­lio Cas­tor also filed for vice mayor while a to­tal 29 can­di­dates will run for city coun­cilor.

How­ever, both Provin­cial and City Comelec re­minded all vot­ers to vote and choose the right lead­ers in the up­com­ing elec­tion.
