Miss Earth In­ter­na­tional 2018 in Palawan!

Twenty-nine (29) can­di­dates of Miss Earth In­ter­na­tional 2018 ar­rived in Palawan on Oc­to­ber 26, 2018 fol­lowed by the 31 can­di­dates on Oc­to­ber 27, 2018 at San Vin­cente town.

The 29 can­di­dates wit­nessed the sign­ing of Barangay Or­di­nance es­tab­lish­ing a Pawikan Sanc­tu­ary in Barangay San Isidro for the pur­pose of up­hold­ing the pro­tec­tion and con­ser­va­tion of en­dan­gered and/or threat­ened species liv­ing in the aquatic en­vi­ron­ment of the Mu­nic­i­pal­ity of San Vin­cente, Palawan which took place at Club Agutaya Beach Re­sort, Oc­to­ber 26, 2018.

Ms. Dixie Mari­nas, vice pres­i­dent for op­er­a­tions of Club Agutaya said, “This is the first ever lo­cal or­di­nance to be made pro­tect a sin­gle species.

“One of the top wild life here is the pawikan” she added.

Mu­nic­i­pal ad­min­is­tra­tor James Inawasan said, “One of the key steps in in­sur­ing our sus­tain­able fu­ture is of course leg­is­lat­ing or­di­nances, mu­nic­i­pal and barangay or­di­nances that will pro­vide spe­cific guide­lines of im­ple­ment­ing pro­tect­ing mea­sures in our en­vi­ron­ment.”

San Vi­cente is also fa­mous hav­ing a 14.7-kilo­me­ter long white beach with sprawl­ing flora and fauna, some of them are con­sid­ered en­dan­gered to in­clude th­ese pawikan or sea tur­tles.

Can­di­dates of Ms. Earth In­ter­na­tional 2018 are here in Palawan for their Tal­ent, Long Gown and Swim­suit Com­pe­ti­tions, which will be held in Puerto Princesa City Coli­seum on Oc­to­ber 28, 2018.

For the first time in its 18th year, the reign­ing Miss Earth el­e­men­tal court will have their own farewell walk and will crown their suc­ces­sors in a glit­ter­ing fi­nale at the SM Mall of Asia Arena that will be wit­nessed by over 100 mil­lion view­ers across the planet via FOXLIFE and other tele­cast part­ners in var­i­ous coun­tries.
