Ero­sion con­trol nets sought for Palawan road projects

A Palawan pro­vin­cial board mem­ber called on the pro­vin­cial govern­ment to in­stall fiber roll slope con­trol blan­kets on all road projects in the prov­ince to pre­vent ero­sion in­ci­dents.

Board Mem­ber Cherry Pie Acosta in a res­o­lu­tion on Tues­day called for the in­stal­la­tion of said the fiber con­trol blan­kets “will serve as a de­vice to pre­vent the ero­sion of slope soils and sed­i­ments, par­tic­u­larly in crit­i­cal ar­eas.”

It could help pre­vent ero­sion from spoil­ing the wa­ter qual­ity in rivers, as well as pro­tect the com­muters and lo­cals sit­u­ated in ar­eas where road projects are be­ing im­ple­mented, Acosta said.

An ear­lier res­o­lu­tion by the Pro­vin­cial Board passed the same res­o­lu­tion but in­tended for the na­tional road af­fected by the six-lane road ex­pan­sion.

‘Yong isa ay naka-ad­dress sa DPWH which is for our na­tional high­ways, ito na­man ay re­quest for our gov­er­nor in­tended doon sa mga pro­vin­cial roads un­der con­struc­tion,” Acosta said.
