Who would have thought that a parcel of land that used to be unproductive could be converted into a one- a- kind tourist destination? The story of Yamang Bukid is an amazing evolution of a “farm tourism” venture currently happening in Puerto Princesa City.

Yamang Bukid is situated in a 4.2- hectare gently sloping piece of land at Sitio Candis, Barangay Bacungan just around 30 minutes drive from the center of the city.

People of different ages in Puerto Princesa City and other parts of Palawan are trooping to Yamang Bukid to take selfies with sunflowers that are in bloom most days of the month.

When you are looking for a unique weekend experience with family and friends, you may bring your mats and dine with them al fresco style under the cool shade of a mango tree or in the picnic area.

Yamang Bukid also offers organic food products, vegetables, and juices. The food products are grown, developed and packaged inside the farm. All these are organic.

The research and development activities, which are ongoing endeavors, are now producing quality food products using the farm’s produce.

One of the products that are in the market today is the turmeric tea.

Turmeric is maybe the most effective nutritional supplement today. It contains bioactive compounds with powerful medicinal properties.

It has an active ingredient called “curcumin” which has a powerful anti- inflammatory effect and is a very strong anti- oxidant.

Aside from tea, Yamang Bukid also uses turmeric as the main ingredient in its various juice products. They use it too, as an ingredient of their other food products.

No wonder, the Yamang Bukid stalls are inside the mall offering a free taste of turmeric tea, which is in line with the farm’s advocacy to promote good health among Filipinos.

True to its tagline “Doing Business with a Heart,” Yamang Bukid is helping a lot of people in the community.

According to its owner, there are around 130 farmers working with him on the farm. The salary of these farmers is far higher than what an ordinary government employee is receiving. He also provides other benefits like SSS and Philhealth.

Yamang Bukid even extends scholarship grants to students in elementary, secondary, and college. The proceeds of the business activities of Yamang Bukid always go back to the community which is the farm’s reason for being.

The happy work environment is manifested by the smiles of the staff of Yamang Bukid who do business with a heart.
