Vil­lage watch­men shot dead in EB Ma­ga­lona

BACOLOD City - Two vil­lage watch­men were shot dead by a mem­ber of the Civil­ian Armed Forces Ge­o­graph­i­cal Unit around 12:30 a.m. yes­ter­day in Barangay Can­lu­song, EB Ma­ga­lona town.

Ar­mando Labto and Aure­lio Ben­dol, both res­i­dents of the barangay, sus­tained mul­ti­ple gun­shot wounds on their bod­ies.

Po­lice Se­nior In­spec­tor Boni­fa­cio Aral, EB Ma­ga­lona po­lice chief, iden­ti­fied the sus­pect as Rey­nante Vil­larosa, a res­i­dent of Purok River­side, Barangay San Isidro in the town.

Po­lice said the in­ci­dent hap­pened dur­ing the pre-fi­esta cel­e­bra­tion of the barangay.

Vil­larosa, who was as­signed at the group’s San Isidro De­tach­ment, went to the plaza and drank.

A com­mo­tion hap­pened around 11:30 p.m., in­ves­ti­ga­tion dis­closed.

The two watch­men re­port­edly paci­fied the com­mo­tion.

The sus­pect, mean­while, took his M14 ri­fle and shot the vic­tims.

Labto and Ben­dol were rushed to Tere­sita Ja­lan­doni Pro­vin­cial Hospi­tal in Si­lay City but both were de­clared dead on ar­rival.
