Let’s play volleyball
ACTUALLY, playing sports is really important in our lives. Aside from the fact that it gives innumerable benefits physically, mentally, psychologically and even socially it also gives us chances to learn to love it by doing it often.
A study showed that sports usually help children to help themselves deal with the realms of the world. It makes them think that reality is not easy as they think it is thus one must exert effort. Sports or recreational games play significant role in the lives of individual especially to those who likes to deal with it.
One of the most famous sports in the world is volleyball. It has been likely listed as one of the most popular team sports. In fact, volleyball has been taught in schools and the institutions have been campaigning for students to deal with it. The benefits of playing volleyball are numerous. Absolutely many people seem not to know it, but playing such sports brings not only enthusiasm to an individual but also to the society he/she belongs to.
As a MAPEH teacher who understands the value of dealing with physical education, it excites me that I can teach my students with such sport and at the same time I can help them to live a healthy lifestyle. In my lessons, I enlighten my class that dealing with a sport like volleyball can bring them a lot of benefits. In this way, they’ll able to understand the importance of playing it.
As mentioned, a person playing volleyball can absolutely gain positive results. One of those is that, playing volleyball helps us to be physically fit thus mentally healthy. According to studies, volleyball helps us to burn calories and fats in our bodies. Since, calories is an important component of a weight loss it is safe to assure that while we are playing volleyball we are slowly gaining and shaping our bodies to a healthy one – for sports keep our body healthy. Mentally and psychologically speaking, volleyball is a helpful tool to improve one’s self- esteem, self- confidence, mood, reduce stress and motivate oneself for the opportunity to play as a team and the pride to win an accomplishment. This will make a person also socially active with the motivation and encouragement he/she gets from playing volleyball.
For brief facts about volleyball, it was invented by William G. Morgan in 1895 and its generic name was “mintonette.” It was derived or designed as the combination of basketball, baseball, tennis and handball. It was then further developed with standard rules needed to play a fair volleyball tournament. Playing volleyball is very easy. For recreational game it can be played by two persons only but for amateur and professional games, it is played by two teams of six players on a court divided by a net.
Volleyball has a very simple objective that is to send the ball over the net so that the opposing team cannot return the ball or prevent it from hitting the ground in their court.
