Silliman U faculty strike ends with new CBA offer
DUMAGUETE CITY— The Silliman University (SU) faculty union and administration have agreed to draft a new collective bargaining agreement following negotiations on July 21 that ended a three-day faculty strike. In a statement, the Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (TIPC) in Negros Oriental province, which initiated the conciliation meetings between the SU Faculty Association (Sufa) and university administration, said SU agreed to review its offer and base it on actual enrollment and revenue figures this year, instead of basing it on projections. The TIPC said the recomputation allowed SU to improve its offer for 407 regular academic personnel for three years or until the school year 2018 to 2019. This would translate to some P230 million for the yearly salaries and benefits of academic personnel. Sufa accepted the offer, leading to the lifting of the strike that started on July 19.
