Alyssa Valdez and Jia Morado may have passed up on stints in the Philippine Superliga, but the Premier Volleyball League standard bearers vowed to join the national women’s team in its Japan training late next month.

This was assured by Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas, Inc. acting president Peter Cayco who said Valdez and Morado will join their teammates from the rival league in the two-week camp prior to the Indonesia Asian Games in August.

“That’s what they told me, I didn’t ask them but they said they will go to Japan,” said Cayco on Sunday of the stars of Creamline, a team in the PVL Reinforced Conference.

Valdez and Morado, who command hundreds of thousands of followers in social media, have been barred from seeing action with the Philippine team in the ongoing PSL Invitationals.

“That’s expected,” added Cayco, referring to the rivalry between the two leagues.

The Nationals will take on PSL teams starting with their June 28 showdown against reigning champion Cignal.

PSL accommodated the National squad to test its mettle but players will have to suit up for their home clubs when their teams take on the Nationals.
