3 CAR THEFT SUS­PECTS KILLED IN SHOOTOUT WITH QC PO­LICE

Three car theft sus­pects were shot dead by Que­zon City po­lice­men in Barangay Pay­atas af­ter they were flagged down in a check­point op­er­a­tion early Fri­day morn­ing.

Que­zon City Po­lice District (QCPD) di­rec­tor Chief Supt. Joselito Esquivel said one sus­pect had a tat­too that read “Philip Car­pio, Cor­dova Katipunero.”

Flagged down

Based on the QCPD report, the sus­pects were on two mo­tor­cy­cles around 12:30 a.m. on Fri­day when they were flagged down by an­ticar theft po­lice­men who were con­duct­ing Oplan Sita at Group 5 cor­ner Pay­atas Road, Barangay Pay­atas.

Po­lice said the sus­pects sped off in­stead of stop­ping, prompt­ing the op­er­a­tives to give chase and even­tu­ally cor- ner the sus­pects.

The armed sus­pects then fired at the pur­su­ing op­er­a­tives hit­ting the po­lice mo­bile.

A brief ex­change of gun­fire re­sulted in the death of the sus­pects, the report said.—
