JOBLESS PINOYS AT 9.8M–SWS
The number of jobless adult Filipinos reached 9.8 million in the third quarter of 2018, according to the results of a Social Weather Stations ( SWS) survey released on Saturday.
The survey conducted from Sept. 15 to 23 showed that adult joblessness was at 22 percent, or 2.3 points higher than the 19.7 percent recorded in June.
Of the total number of jobless adults, 9.2 percent (4.1 million) were retrenched, 8.4 percent (3.7 million) voluntarily left their jobs, and 4.4 percent (2 million) were first-time job seekers.
The survey involved interviews with 1,500 adults aged 18 years and above. Six hundred of the respondents were in Balance Luzon, with 300 each in Metro Manila, Visayas and Mindanao.
It had a margin of error of plus-or-minus 3 percent for national percentages, plus-or-minus 4 percent for Balance Luzon, and plus-or-minus 6 percent each for Metro Manila, Visayas, and Mindanao.
