Hello Summer!

MAC Cosmetics launches its Spring Summer 2017 Collection at a beach party to remember

Unveiling its easy, authentic and modern approach to beauty this season, the cosmetics giant MAC flew dozens of local editors, beauty experts and personalities to Cebu for a Spring/Summer 2017 ProTour. The tropical haven of Shangri-La's Mactan Resort & Spa was the perfect setting for the twonight getaway with the Los Angeles-based MAC Cosmetics Director for Makeup Artistry, Gregory Arlt, as special guest.

The glam-filled event kicked off with a cosy welcome lunch at the Cowrie Cove, where the MAC Philippines dynamo team led by General Manager Gay Lao Chen and PR executive Vanessa Vergara outlined the programme of activities in store for us.

After a relaxed afternoon of sun and sea, everyone geared up for the evening's main event: the official launch of MAC Cosmetics' all-new fragrance collection, Shadescents, inspired by the brand's most iconic lipstick shades.

As the sun set over the Mactan Channel, painting the sky in dazzling shades from pink and lilac to gold, cocktails flowed at the al fresco bar with special drink concoctions inspired by the different Shadescents.

Dusk turned into night and we moved indoors to the hotel's tented Ocean Pavilion, which had been beautifully set with long tables themed according to each of the six fragrances. There was the woody floral Lady Danger; the sultry Ruby Woo (that brings to mind red leather); the sugary sweet Candy Yum-Yum; the smoky

and mysterious My Herorine; the musky amber Creme de Nude; and the sexy Velvet Teddy, with its notes of wild honey. A divine sit-down dinner served up a menu creatively infused with regional touches. (Think Marcona almond gazpacho with Bohol sweet prawn and tomato-date tartare and slowbraised veal cheek in Hunter Valley shiraz foie gras poêlé with grated Visayan cacao!) Before dessert was served, the Shadescents ambassadors were presented to the audience: Tessa Prieto-Valdes, Megan Young, RB Chanco, Karylle, Bianca Manalo and Stephanie Zubiri- Crespi. It was time for a MAC pampering session the following morning before the SS17 trends presentation in the afternoon. The celebrity makeup artist Arlt was in his element discussing the season’s focus on simple, unfeigned natural beauty. He shared expert tips on how to achieve four key makeup trends: "real" highlighting next to nothing face colour; "free" which is playful and fun with coloured mascara in extreme dimension; "wet" which is all about luminous, hydrated skin; and "warm" with its beautiful golden bronze look. The fun and fab MAC Sping Summer ProTour came to a close with a lovely all-white farewell dinner under the stars.
