Casa Vicens in Barcelona, the first house ever designed by the Spanish Catalan architect Antonio Gaudi in 1883, was originally built to be a summer home. Today, the project stands as the essential manifesto of Gaudi's architecture and the key work for understanding the development of modernism in Barcelona. A World Heritage Site, Casa Vicens will open as a museum on the second half of this year, allowing visitors to get a glimpse of the estate's history and the social, cultural and artistic context of the house. www.casavicens.org
