Commissioned artworks from Filipino artists hang on the walls, along with a modern painting of the story of Mirèio by artist Marcel Antonio. The restaurant’s logo, a recreation of Mistral’s handwriting, is a nod to the poem’s author. Leading the Mirèio culinary team is Chef Nicolas Cegretin, who grew up in Provence and gained experience working for notable establishments across Europe. He started his career in Paris with Michelin-star restaurants Lasserre and Apicius, both recognised for French gastronomic cuisine. He also worked in several prestigious 5-star hotels and at Hotel La Mamounia in Marrakech.
Cegretin’s menu evokes a sense of nostalgia. It is a fusion of his own home-cooking and more contemporary flavours. In his own words, he describes his dishes as “elegant in a simple way, so that the flavours of our ingredients are the highlight.”
On the menu are signature tartares such as Beef Tartare with Goat Cheese and Basil, Fresh and Smoked Salmon Tartare with Granny Smith Apple and Dijon Mustard Cream, and Veal with King Prawns Tartare and Crispy Rice. Savoury dishes such as Grilled Butcher’s Choice Beef with Sautéed Potatoes and Black Pepper Sauce, Slow-cooked Oxtail Parmentier with Black Truffle Jus and Mesclun, and Pan-seared Herb Crusted Sea Bass and Ratatouille Stuffed Cannelloni with Ginger and Olive Oil are set up to be dinner favourites. Desserts with a twist such as Lavender Crème Brûlée, Lemon Madeleine and Roasted Compote Provençale, and Apple Tart Tatin with Vanilla Ice Cream are available to cap each meal. To complement the dishes, Mirèio also has an extensive selection of French and New World wines.
