FROM TABLE TO TV
A new TV food programme hosted by talks about cuisine and beyond
Believing that most Filipinos, including herself, are strangers in their own country, Asia’s Best Female Chef of 2016 finds her new food programme, Harvest with Margarita Forès (7pm, Saturdays, CNN Philippines) a blessing. “I even learnt to weave abaca!” she excitedly said at the launch at one of her restaurants, Lusso. The four-part, half-hour series starts with the Bicol region, and instead of just presenting its cuisine, Harvest goes into a bit of its culture, including abaca weaving. Forès got so close to her Bicolano sources that she rushed to help them when they were affected by the recent typhoon, Nina. This sensitive and sympathetic restaurateur may have also formed long-lasting bonds with her next interviewees from General Santos, Davao, and the Ilocos.
