Resident motoring enthusiast lives the dream at the 2016 Porsche Media Driving Academy in Malaysia

ike many men my age, I started putting together a bucket list. Every year, I would edit the list, deleting items I either had already accomplished or was no longer interested in, then adding new items of interest. High on my list was my dream to drive a really fast car on a Formula One racetrack.

The years came and went and that particular item remained steadfast on the list, leading me to gradually come to the belief that it might never come to pass. Time, after all, would not be on my side in this matter as, beyond a certain age, certain endeavours are no longer advisable, or even doable, due to physical constraints.

But a few months ago, I received an invitation from Porsche to attend its Media Driving Academy 2016 (its second, the first launched in 2015) at the Sepang International Circuit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia—the home of the Malaysia Formula One Grand Prix. Indeed, all good things come to those who wait.
