Celebrated philanthropist and lawyer Loida Nicolas Lewis receives the Phoenix Lifetime Achievement Award this month at the 35th Anniversary Benefit Gala of Womankind, a non-profit organisation in New York that provides award-winning and culturally responsive services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence, human trafficking, and abuse in later life. Womankind recognised Lewis’ contributions to the Asian American communities in the United States through her advocacy, influence, and generosity. “I applaud Womankind on its mission of providing refuge, recovery, and renewal for countless women across New York City, my home. Womankind proves that, together, we can end the violence and trafficking that plague our society,” says Lewis.
