Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia’s brand is sweeping the younger set off their feet. Kim attended the Pratt Institute in New York and interned at big-name brands. She was design director six years after joining Oscar de la Renta, and then Garcia, an architect with a heart for fashion, arrived. The duo founded Monse in 2015 after leaving Oscar de la Renta. The label pushes the boundaries of contemporary fashion, playing wfith asymmetry and cut-outs, often mixing familiar and feminine suiting with more masculine motifs like sport stripes and big buckles. This casual yet glamorous mix has catapulted the brand to street-style fame and won fans such as Amal Clooney and Sarah Jessica Parker.
