ANTIQUES IN CONDOS interior designer John vigilia, who worked on Judd salas’s condo unit, spills some tips on how to incorporate antiques in a modern setting. yes, it can be done!

1. “do not be afraid of mixing contrasting elements,” says John. Grouping items according to their color or finish will still give a cohesive appearance. 2. “Follow a small-mediumlarge rule when grouping pieces according to their scale

and proportion,” says John. if you have just one small piece and one big piece, however, avoid putting them side-by-side.

3. “Put together old and new

items,” says John. “Both will have contrasting features that will make each piece stand on its own.”

4. on the tendency to overpopulate an area: “Give each

piece breathing space so your eyes will not be confused with a barrage of elements.”
