A MOM OF THREE GETS A SWEET SURPRISE FROM HER HUSBAND: THE MAKEOVER OF THEIR MASTER BEDROOM
ON their fifteenth wedding anniversary, technical writer-turned-entrepreneur Myrla tamayo gave her husband a special gift: she had started working on the renovation of their bedroom. Myrla would have wanted to finish the project, but due to health reasons, she had to quit her job of five years.
“She was heartbroken, more so because she couldn’t finish the project,” her husband Benjie says.
Around the same time, she wrote to Real Living asking for help. She had wanted to redo their family room, which was formerly her dad’s bedroom before he passed away. Benjie offered to help send the letters, but at the last minute, he decided to add another entry, this time from himself. “i wish to surprise my wife by renovating our bedroom,” he wrote.
the call from RL came later than they expected, but it couldn’t have come at a better time, as Myrla had just celebrated the completion of her master’s degree. She recalls, “We extended the master bedroom because kids like to hang out here, but at the same time, we needed an area for sleeping, too. We didn’t have enough budget for the full renovation, so hanggang extension lang talaga siya.” Myrla and Benjie have three kids: teenagers Biel and Bettina and fouryear-old Bailey.
