INTERIOR DESIGNER NIKKI AUDINE SHARES THESE THREE TRICKS TO CREATING AN AIRY HOME DESPITE THE SMALL FLOOR AREA.
Let go of barely used furniture.
A rarely used vanity table that took up a lot of space was the first to go. Next was a glass TV console that didn’t blend with the rest of the furniture. Do away with bulky furniture and go for sleek, functional pieces.
Placing the new worktable by the window posed a challenge for window treatment. Curtains would be too long, so Nikki opted for Roman shades, which can easily be pulled up when needed, giving the owners just the right amount of natural light they want. A couple of nice-looking frames from AllHome, some faux plants, and homey accents like scented candles create a laidback feel. Combining work and living areas can be tricky, so keep things simple.
Mind the details.
