There’s only one brand ThaT comes to mind when you want a retro-style refrigerator: sMeG.

This brand recognition is proof of how successful sMeG is. “For sMeG, style is a distinct concept—it is the way a product communicates with its surroundings and enables users to interact with it,” explains leah Marcos, vice president for retail sales and marketing of Mondo Cucina Inc., which is the sole authorized distributor for sMeG in the country. sMeG, which stands for Smalterie Metallurgiche Emiliane Guastalla, is a premium brand of appliances that hails from Italy. Its flagship showroom in ayala Center was officially launched last July 2016. It’s a spacious playground for anyone who loves kitchens. sMeG’s signature retro-style, curvy refrigerators occupy a floor-toceiling shelf in one corner, while vintage-style range cookers and gas hobs sit right next to these. across are the more modern and sleek cookers, built-in ovens, and refrigerators that feature the same top-of-the-line quality.

since it was founded in 1948, the brand has continually innovated to provide consumers a wide range of items. Collaboration

is key, hence, sMeG made sure to partner with top architects like renzo Piano, Marc newson, and Guido Canali (the very first architect that sMeG collaborated with) in designing various product lines. The brand also worked with master blacksmith Giancarlo Candiego, whose creations grace private houses and hotels.

While the brand primarily appeals to the high-end market, it also aims to expand its reach. “We want to saturate the market. We have new competitive lower price points to tap the young professionals and younger market,” says leah. Just last month, sMeG launched its line of small kitchen appliances that sport the trademark vintage design in eye-candy colors. designed by Matteo bazzicalupo and raffaella Mangiarotti of deepdesign, a design studio in Milan, Italy, the line boasts both beauty and functionality. These little kitchen helpers are displayed right in the middle of the showroom’s entrance.

aside from these brand-new product offerings, expect sMeG to come up with more items that are in keeping with its tagline: Technology with style.

These famous retro-style refrigerators have become the signature of SMEG. These come in a variety of eyepopping colors that will instantly perk up your kitchen. There’s even a limited edition piece that comes in gold, with Swarovski crystals lining the SMEG logo!

SMEG recently unveiled these small domestic appliances to the market. They not only come in pretty colors; they also come with affordable price tags!

One corner of the showroom houses these gorgeous Victoria Cookers that pay homage to kitchen traditions. These come in red, cream, and black.

Aside from its popular line of vintage-inspired appliances, SMEG also boasts sleek hobs, cookers, and built-in ovens. It also offers stainless steel induction cook top and grillers, as well as automatic cappuccino makers—dreamy additions to a busy kitchen.
