Inspired by art and music
March has been quite an exciting and eventful month, we decided to dedicate this entire issue to all things art and music, beginning with the beautiful and talented DJ Christina Bartges, a.k.a. Miss Badkiss, gracing our cover. We were privileged enough to shoot her in a collaboration with Everywhere We Shoot couple Ryan Vergara and Garovs Garrovillo at the recent Finale Art File exhibit of Roberto Chabet, deemed the Father of Philippine Conceptual Art and a mentor to many of today’s big names in art.
I am proud to say that there is currently a new awakening and awareness in both music and art in the Philippines today—so notable, in fact, that we have moved this issue one Sunday down so Mara Miano, our amazing and spirited intern, could cover Malasimbo (p.6), a music and arts festival held in Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro. Now on its third year and with feedback so enticing, the event is something that I look forward to attending next year.
Inquirer RED Magazine also lets you in on what people from the past and present music scenes listen to (inquiRED, p.30), with hopes that you can enrich your own musical taste by adding new tunes to your playlist. For nonconformists, this issue’s acquiRED (p.11) might encourage them to start a collection of vinyl records, which are exactly art and music put together.
Art and music inspire this magazine precisely because they naturally unite people. Spice up your weekend by visiting galleries and attending gigs and concerts with friends or family; surely all that creativity will unite and inspire you, too.
Things are getting exciting out there, don’t miss out!
