August - Buwan ng Wika

The month of August marks the cel­e­bra­tion of Na­tional Lan­guage Month (Buwan ng Wika) with the year’s theme: “Filipino: Wikang Ma­pag­bago”.

Every schools are ex­pected to come up with ac­tiv­i­ties that will make the pupils un­der­stand why the Filipino lan­guage is the light and strength of our na­tion. Th­ese ac­tiv­i­ties in­cludes na­tive dances and sing­ing of Filipino songs. Pupils from dif­fer­ent schools re­hearsed and show­cased their tal­ents for the” Buwan ng Wika” pro­gram.

As a Filipino, we ad­mire those who took part in the cel­e­bra­tion, be­cause in a sense that they want to be a part of this im­por­tant event, their ef­forts in mem­o­riz­ing their lines, steps, and lyrics just to show ev­ery­one how Dr. Jose Rizal, our na­tional hero, strug­gled for free­dom which laid the evo­lu­tion of our na­tional lan­guage.

Buwan ng Wika is the time we re­mind our pupils the im­por­tance of Filipino Lan­guage. Although English is used in school. Filipino lan­guage is one of the things that could iden­tify a per­son. It boost our na­tional pride and it sym­bol­izes how rich a cul­tural her­itage our coun­try has. By Carmelita B. Sad-ang
