Quake hits MP
A LOW intensity quake hit Mountain Province Wednesday noon which caused the suspension of classes in some parts of the province.
DOST’s Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reported at 11:34 a.m., a 4.0 magnitude quake was recorded with the epicenter in Sagada town.
After the quake, Bontoc Mayor Franklin Odsey suspended afternoon classes in all levels as a safety measure to keep children within the confines of their
homes.
The quake was also felt in some parts of Baguio City. No suspension of classes was declared.
Authorities said there is a low expectation on damages and aftershocks and has advised the public to stay calm and vigilant as they asked the local disaster teams to take precautionary measures.
Meanwhile, the weather bureau is also on alert for a Low pressure area [LPA] at the east of Aparri, Cagayan which could bring moderate to occasional heavy rains with thunderstorms over Northern Luzon.
PAG - ASA said the LPA will weaken while traversing Northern Luzon Wednesday but will re-emerge over the west coast of Luzon tomorrow morning and is likely to develop into a Tropical Depression within the next 36hrs.
The public and LDRRMCs are alerted against possible floods and landslides.
Three weeks ago, an intensity three tremor scared the Baguio City prompting a university to suspend classes in all levels after the slight quake.
