Korean tops Do­mo­gan Cup

KOREAN na­tional Sean Choi reigned as over­all cham­pion of the an­nual Mauri­cio G. Do­mo­gan Cup with an ag­gre­gate of 75 points to clinch top spot.

Hong Chang Bum fired 37 at CJH and added 30 at BCC to win the men’s Class A fol­lowed by Cordilleran Robert Basco and Ricky Ve­lasco for first and sec­ond run­ner-ups, re­spec­tively.

The an­nual MDG cup saw close to 400 golfers see­ing ac­tion on both the Baguio Coun­try Club and Camp John Hay fair­ways over the week­end.

Choi, who has a zero hand­i­cap, fired 39 at CJH then added 35 at the BCC, to cap the two-day tour­na­ment that used the Stable­ford scor­ing sys­tem with play­ers from the re­gion and as far as Is­abela.

In the ladies Class A the Korean put­ters took the top slots with Kim Jun Youn­gas cham­pion fol­lowed by Shin Sun Young and Jung Jung Soon for first and sec­ond run­ners-up.

The ladies Class B cham­pi­onship tro­phy went to Elisa Abriol fol­lowed by King Eun Sook and Nor­mita King while Beth Pat­ter­son top the ladies Class C fol­lowed by Baguio girl, Donna Navar­rette and Pa­tri­cia Fran­cisco.

Hur Yun topped the men’s Class B fol­lowed by Coun­cilor Mike Lawana and golf­ing buddy Art Bayot in that or­der while po­lice colonel Glenn Lono­gan cham­pi­oned the men’s Class C fol­lowed by Ed­win Ganga and Oliver


Edgar Gar­cia won the men’s Class D fol­lowed by Ed­ward Ba­corro and Art Men­doza for first and sec­ond run­ner-ups in that or­der

In the Se­nior’s A Fred Pucket ruled with a to­tal score of 69 fol­lowed by re­tired po­lice gen­eral Alex Pumecha and Richard Solang with Toni Jo­son win­ning the se­niors B fol­lowed by Mankayan Mayor Matt Lus­pian and Mike Ra­mat.

The se­nior’s C cham­pi­onship tro­phy went to An­thony Robles fol­lowed by Joe Agoot and Tom Pa­nis.

Lee Bong Sung won the guest di­vi­sion or play­ers with no reg­is­tered hand­i­cap with golf­ing priest Matt Don­to­gan plac­ing sec­ond while Junel So­ri­ano was in third place.

Spe­cial awardees at the CJH fair­way were Ed­win Ganga for the near­est to the pin at hole 15, Johnny Balaki for near­est to the line at hole 3 while win­some lady golfer fired the long­est drive at hole 1.

Spe­cial awardees at the BCC fair­way were Ralfp Chong won the long­est drive at hole 11 while Ramir Badua got the near­est to the pin at hole 1 with Henry Vil­lanueva win­ning the most ac­cu­rate drive at hole 8. Rod­er­ick Osis
