Korean tops Domogan Cup
KOREAN national Sean Choi reigned as overall champion of the annual Mauricio G. Domogan Cup with an aggregate of 75 points to clinch top spot.
Hong Chang Bum fired 37 at CJH and added 30 at BCC to win the men’s Class A followed by Cordilleran Robert Basco and Ricky Velasco for first and second runner-ups, respectively.
The annual MDG cup saw close to 400 golfers seeing action on both the Baguio Country Club and Camp John Hay fairways over the weekend.
Choi, who has a zero handicap, fired 39 at CJH then added 35 at the BCC, to cap the two-day tournament that used the Stableford scoring system with players from the region and as far as Isabela.
In the ladies Class A the Korean putters took the top slots with Kim Jun Youngas champion followed by Shin Sun Young and Jung Jung Soon for first and second runners-up.
The ladies Class B championship trophy went to Elisa Abriol followed by King Eun Sook and Normita King while Beth Patterson top the ladies Class C followed by Baguio girl, Donna Navarrette and Patricia Francisco.
Hur Yun topped the men’s Class B followed by Councilor Mike Lawana and golfing buddy Art Bayot in that order while police colonel Glenn Lonogan championed the men’s Class C followed by Edwin Ganga and Oliver
Edgar Garcia won the men’s Class D followed by Edward Bacorro and Art Mendoza for first and second runner-ups in that order
In the Senior’s A Fred Pucket ruled with a total score of 69 followed by retired police general Alex Pumecha and Richard Solang with Toni Joson winning the seniors B followed by Mankayan Mayor Matt Luspian and Mike Ramat.
The senior’s C championship trophy went to Anthony Robles followed by Joe Agoot and Tom Panis.
Lee Bong Sung won the guest division or players with no registered handicap with golfing priest Matt Dontogan placing second while Junel Soriano was in third place.
Special awardees at the CJH fairway were Edwin Ganga for the nearest to the pin at hole 15, Johnny Balaki for nearest to the line at hole 3 while winsome lady golfer fired the longest drive at hole 1.
Special awardees at the BCC fairway were Ralfp Chong won the longest drive at hole 11 while Ramir Badua got the nearest to the pin at hole 1 with Henry Villanueva winning the most accurate drive at hole 8. Roderick Osis
