Ty­phoon Odette in­ten­si­fies

TROP­I­CAL Storm "Odette" has slightly in­ten­si­fied as it con­tin­ues to tra­verse North­ern Ca­gayan.

Trop­i­cal Cy­clone Warn­ing Sig­nal No. 2 was still raised over the Prov­ince of Apayao, while the Prov­inces of Abra, Benguet, Kalinga, Moun­tain Prov­ince and Ifu­gao in the Cordillera are un­der TCWS No. 1.

The ty­phoon af­fected 42 fam­i­lies rep­re­sent­ing 124 in­di­vid­u­als in mu­nic­i­pal­i­ties in Apayao, while a to­tal of 2 Evac­u­a­tion Cen­ters were opened to take in those seek­ing shel­ter.

Two to­tally dam­aged houses were re­ported in Sta. Marcela, Apayao.

Due to the ef­fects of the ty­phoon classes were sus­pended in

pre-school in the Prov­inces of Benguet, Kalinga, Ifu­gao and Mt. Prov­ince.

Ex­cept for Con­ner, Apayao who de­clared a sus­pen­sion of classes in all lev­els, other mu­nic­i­pal­i­ties sus­pended classes from pre-school to high school.

Abra prov­ince have also sus­pended classes from pre-school to high school, while four mu­nic­i­pal­i­ties have ex­pe­ri­enced power in­ter­rup­tions.

The Apayao PDRRMC is closely mon­i­tor­ing the mu­nic­i­pal­i­ties of Flora and Luna for pos­si­ble flood­ing.

The Re­gional Pub­lic Works Depart­ment re­ported the Abra - Kalinga Rd (Ga­cab, Mal­ib­cong Sect)

Con­ner - Kabugao Rd (Bad­duat and Lut­tua­can Sect), Calanasan Apayao - Ilo­cos Norte Rd (Sadel Sect), Banaue - Hung­duan Benguet Bdry Rd (Tul­lu­dan, Tinoc) and the Junc­tion Talu­bin - Batlig - Na­tonin - Paracelis Rd (Bal­abag Sect, Barlig) to closed to traf­fic due to mi­nor slides.

Mean­while, the Pro­tected Area Su­per­in­ten­dent of Up­per Agno River Basin Re­serve (UARBR) is­sued Safety Ad­vi­sory to all trekkers and trans­port ser­vice providers to can­cel trips and trekking ac­tiv­i­ties to the moun­tains of the Cordilleras. By Jonathan Llanes
