JHMC reaches out to 700 indigents in medical mission
HUNDREDS of residents surrounding the John Hay reservation including the locators within the John Hay Special Economic Zone availed of the free medical and dental check-ups with free legal consultation at the Scout Barrio Gymnasium on October 28.
John Hay Management Corporation, a government-owned and controlled corporation (GOCC) expanded its mandate not only in becoming a responsible steward of the forest watershed but a dedicated public servant committed to save and make the lives of the less privileged people better within the reservation.
The free medical services were provided by the medical practitioners of Saint Louis University Hospital of the Sacred Heart under the leadership of Dr. Paul Adlai Quitiquit. A team of 40 medical practitioners provided pediatrics, ob gyne, surgery and medical consultations.
Recipients of the free medical mission also received free multi-vitamins and some prescription medicines for free.
The dental services were provided by Dr. Proserfina Mananig of the Mananig Dental Clinic.
Recognized and reputable lawyers from the topnotch roster of the University of Cordilleras – School of Law professors facilitated the free legal consultation, spearheaded by Dean Reynaldo Agranzamendez.
The outreach program aims to provide easy access to health care services and legal aide to residents who have limited resources to avail it. The activity was in line with the corporate social responsibility projects of the corporation and a part of the 114th anniversary celebration of the Camp.
Among those who extended support and provision to the outreach program were the John Hay Business Club led by its president, Maria Teresa Pantaleon, who provided intimate wash and bottled water and the management of the Mercury and St Joseph Drug Stores who delivered several medicines and multivitamins for the recipients.
The JHMC has been assisting and providing easy health care services to its neighboring communities in the City. Last year,
it has expanded its outreach program as far as Gohang and San Fernando, Banaue, Ifugao, where hundreds of residents from the two barangays were provided with the basic necessities like mos- quito nets, slippers, educational kits and clothes.
JHMC is a subsidiary of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) which manages the John Hay special economic zone.
