Inventors urged to patent works, push for commercialization
THE DEPARTMENT of Science and Technology urged inventors, innovators and researchers to patent their researches or inventions and pursue their commercialization.
DOST - Technology Application and Promotion Institute Director Edgar Garcia stressed the government believes that S&T and innovations are a key driver of development .They contribute to the competitiveness index of the country especially if these are registered or patented by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPhil).
Garcia said the DOST- TAPI is providing technical and financial assistance in getting the IP work of inventors patented or registered at IPOPHil. He added RICE is being conducted in the different regions to highlight the role of Filipino inventors and increase awareness on the value of S&T and innovation on socio – economic growth of every Filipino family and community especially in the countryside.
The RICE for the Cordillera Administrative Region held this week drew 51 contestants regionwide - 13 for the Utility Model Re- search category, 6 for the Creative Research and 19 for the Outstanding Student Creative Research (SIBOL) High School category and 13 for SIBOL College category.
The winning IP entries in each of the RICE categories will represent the region in the National Invention Contest and Exhibits set next year.
