Sus­pects for estafa, il­le­gal gam­bling ar­rested

A TRACKER team from the Atok Mu­nic­i­pal Po­lice Sta­tion in Benguet ar­rested a 30 year old wanted for estafa while a small time gam­bler was col­lared by au­thor­i­ties re­cently.

Michelle Ann Fianza Gaw-an was ar­rested at Purok 4, Up­per Pinget, Baguio City in the af­ter­noon of Oc­to­ber 9 af­ter be­ing charged for estafa.

The ar­rest came af­ter the is­suance of war­rant of ar­rest is­sued by Mu­nic­i­pal Trial Court in Cities First Ju­di­cial Re­gion, third branch Judge Leody Opolinto for vi­o­la­tion of Ar­ti­cle 315 through fal­si­fi­ca­tion of pub­lic doc­u­ment with a rec­om­mended P40,000. bail bond.

The war­rant of ar­rest was is­sued on Septem­ber 11 and was re­ceived by the said of­fice on Oc­to­ber 8, while the ac­cused was brought to Atok MPS and sub­se­quently will be brought to the con­cerned court for proper dis­po­si­tion.

Mean­while, 43 – year - old dispatcher Al­fonso Calura Elan was ar­rested by op­er­a­tives of the Pro­vin­cial In­tel­li­gence BureauBenguet, La Trinidad Mu­nic­i­pal Po­lice Sta­tion and Moun­tain Prov­ince Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tion and De­tec­tion Group for vi­o­la­tion of Pres­i­den­tial De­cree 1602 or il­le­gal gam­bling.

Elan was ar­rested in the morn­ing of Oc­to­ber 9 at Jappa, Shi­lanLa Trinidad af­ter the op­er­a­tives spot­ted the sub­ject per­son in the act of col­lect­ing bet money.

The sus­pect was asked to present his uni­form and iden­ti­fi­ca­tion card as a small town lot­tery bet col­lec­tor which Elan failed to show or pro­duce.

Re­cov­ered from the sus­pect was cash amount­ing to P420 in dif­fer­ent de­nom­i­na­tion, a pen and a car­ton con­tain­ing writ­ten num­ber com­bi­na­tions.
