Army pursues NPA rebel’s in Ifugao
ARMY personnel are now in pursuit of New Peoples Army rebels who engaged members of the 54th Infantry Batallion of the Philippine Army in a 15 minute gun battle in Barangay Binablyan, Tinoc-Ifugao.
Lieutenant Colonel Narciso Nabulnag Jr., 54th IB commanding officer said the army responded to a report of the presence of the rebel groups in the area where they were engaged in the fire fight.
Ten members of the Special Partisan Unit of the New Peoples Army initially fired at the responding army personnel until they escaped using a pickup.
No casualties were reported on the side of the army while government troops are still confirming the identities of possible casualties on the side of the rebel group.
Recovered from the encounter site were two rifles consisting of a 30 caliber Garran and carbine with nine cartridges, 30 caliber ball and a motorcycle used by the rebels in their operations in Ifugao and neighboring province.
