PSC re­turns to Tawi-Tawi for Women’s Vol­ley­ball

THE PHILIP­PINE Sports Com­mis­sion will re­visit the is­land mu­nic­i­pal­ity of Simunul in Taw­iTawi for the sec­ond edi­tion of the PSCWomen’s Street Vol­ley­ball slated on Novem­ber 3 to 6.

More than 600 women and girls from 15 barangays are ex­pected to par­tic­i­pate in the event to be led by Women in Sports Over­sight Com­mis­sioner Celia Ki­ram and Simu­lun Mayor Nazif Ah­mad Bayo Ab­du­ra­man.

“The peo­ple of Simunul are very much into sports, espe­cially vol­ley­ball. They play it in every street, down to the beach area,” said Ki­ram.

“We have ex­cel­lent play­ers in this re­gion. That is why we are also pro­mot­ing our grass­roots de­vel­op­ment here and dis­cover fu­ture tal­ents that will be soon be part of our na­tional team,” added Ki­ram, cit­ing on the up­set win the Tawi-Tawi Vol­ley­ball Team did against the Na­tional Team at the 2018 Philip­pine Na­tional Games in Cebu.

The four-day pro­gram also co­in­cides with the 608th found­ing cel­e­bra­tion of Is­lam in the is­land of Simunul.

“Sports equip­ment are go­ing to be do­nated to the lo­cal gov­ern­ment of Simunul,” con­cluded the Sulu-na­tive Ki­ram.

The first edi­tion of the Women Street Vol­ley­ball hap­pened on Novem­ber last year.
