In the SI­BOL Award (Student Cre­ative Re­search for High School), XYVO: All-nat­u­ral Sore Throat Lozenges from Al­lium schoeno­pra­sum (Sibu­jing) Stalk Ex­tract (Ili­gan City East NHS) brought home the prize as re­gional winner; Eco­log­i­cally Pro­duced Gas (EPG): Biodegrad­able Waste into Gas Fuel Utiliz­ing an Im­pro­vised Gas Reg­u­la­tor in Ad­dress­ing the Re­duc­tion of Green­house Gas Emis­sions (Oza­miz City NHS), 1st Run­ner-up; and Uti­liza­tion of the Bioac­tive Con­stituents of Cu­cumis sativus (Cu­cum­ber), Euphor­bia hirta (Tawa-tawa) and Po­macea canalic­u­lata(Snail) as Medic­i­nal Beauty Soap (Ili­gan City East NH), 2nd Run­ner-up).

Among the As­so­ci­a­tion of South­east Asian Na­tions (ASEAN), the sec­re­tary said Thai­land would want Filipinos as their col­lab­o­ra­tors in eight ar­eas: med­i­cal sci­ence, food pro­cess­ing, in­no­va­tive agriculture, elec­tron­ics and com­puter, nan­otech­nol­ogy, space tech­nol­ogy, in­no­va­tive start-up, and metrol­ogy. Hence,a part­ner­ship was forced last March 31 this year when the Philip­pines signed a Me­moran­dum of Agree­ment (MOA) with the King­dom of Thai­land.

Sec. de la Peña said the Philip­pines and Thai­land have con­tin­u­ously main­tained a cor­dial and sta­ble re­la­tion­ship,rec­og­niz­ing each other’s strength in terms of eco­nomic and in­dus­trial growth. PIA10
