Cop killed, 2 oth­ers wounded in gun at­tack

APOLICEMAN was killed while two oth­ers, in­clud­ing an­other po­lice­man, were wounded in a gun at­tack in Zam­boanga City, the po­lice re­ported Wed­nes­day.

Su­per­in­ten­dent Aris­ton Li­mos, Po­lice Sta­tion 11 chief, said the shoot­ing oc­curred around 5:18 p.m. Tues­day along Agan Av­enue in the vil­lage of Camino Nuevo, Zam­boanga City.

Li­mos iden­ti­fied the slain po­lice­man as Se­nior Po­lice Of­fi­cer 4 (SPO4) Ab­du­rah­man Estino, 46, who was as­signed in Sio­con, Zam­boanga del Norte.

Wounded were Estino’s cousin, SPO2 Ab­dul­mu­nir, 40, who is as­signed in the prov­ince of Sulu and Leo Calago, a se­cu­rity guard.

Li­mos said the Esti­nos were leav­ing from a mo­tor­cy­cle shop when they were shot by one of two men rid­ing on a mo­tor­cy­cle that stopped in front of the es­tab­lish­ment.

Calago was hit by stray bul­let when the gun­man re­peat­edly shot the Esti­nos.

Li­mos said the vic­tims were rushed to the nearby hos­pi­tal where Ab­du­rah­man died while un­der­go­ing med­i­cal treat­ment.

Po­lice in­ves­ti­ga­tion is on­go­ing.
