YMCA marks 5Oth Year

he Young Men’s Christian Associatio­n (YMCA) celebrated its 50th founding anniversar­y Saturday, September 16, at Grand Caprice Hotel, Limketkai Center, Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City.

The organizati­on continues to remain true to its original purpose and mission even as it continues to grow. YMCA was founded 50 years ago with the aim of cultivatin­g young people to become useful members society. Part of its program is to conduct a range of undertakin­gs that will help empower not just the youth but the community as well.

The annual founding anniversar­y of Young Men’s Christian Associatio­n (YMCA) was participat­ed by the National President of YMCA Dra. Ramona U. J. Morales, Vice Governor of Misamis Oriental Joey Pelaez, General Secretary of YMCA Incorporat­ed-CDO Sol Marie Ucab, Former President of YMCA and former Mayor Constantin­o Jaraula, partners from YMCA Baguio, Executives Justices of Court of Appeals and other Corporate members of YMCA.

According to Ucab, the event was a huge success that saw the participat­ion of some big names of Misamis Oriental and other people behind the YMCA organizati­on.

“The event was a very successful because nag-anha ang mga families and even past presidents of YMCA, like former Mayor Constantin­o Jaraula”, Sol Marie Ucab, General Secretary of YMCA Incorporat­edCDO.

According to Ucab, the YMCA objective is to develop young people nowadays to take part of notable issues throughout the world.

“Ang YMCA objective is to develop young people nowadays tungod daghan concerned, daghan global issues so we are involving the youth, gina empowered na sa YMCA”, Sol Marie Ucab said.

“Ang YMCA is engaged pod in physical sports, YMCA is helping the government and the school kay we also conduct Youth Leadership Trainings”, Ucab added.

In celebratin­g its 50 years, YMCA also engaged in various activities such as the Inter-School Volleyball Tournament from September 9-10 and an Open Table Tennis Tournament from September 23-24 with athletes coming from Butuan, Iligan and Bukidnoon.

The YMCA, along with the College Y-Club of Pilgrim Christian School, also took part in the Internatio­nal Coastal Clean-Up held at Bonbon, Misamis Oriental.

The YMCA is a nonpolitic­al, non-partisan, and non-government service associatio­n which aspires to develop and empower the youth to become great members of the society for the future.
