Man beheads wife in Cebu

A WOMAN was beheaded by his common-law husband, believed to be mentally ill, past 6 a.m., Sunday, October 8, in Sitio Libo, Barangay Tayud, Consolacion, Cebu.

Tayud Barangay Councilor Wilfredo Ibale identified the woman as Lovely Jane Quiño,24.

The perpetrator, Dominic Pahugot, 24, was killed by the police after he refused to surrender and allegedly tried to attack them with his bolo.

Before the incident, Quiño and Pahugot were heard arguing inside their house.

Pahugot's grandmother, who was living nearby, asked for help from Ibale, who went to the barangay hall and called the police station past 7 a.m.

Police Officer 2 Jorge Tapales said they received the call around 7:20 a.m. A team was dispatched to the area.

The police officers, guided by Libo residents, found Dominic along the seashore, about 500 meters from his house.

Dominic, who was unruly, was shot when he tried to attack the police officers.
