PAL eyes Davao-Suri­gao flight

THE Philip­pines flag car­rier Philip­pine Air­lines will fly di­rectly from Davao to Suri­gao soon.

PAL pres­i­dent and chief op­er­at­ing of­fi­cer Jaime Bautista said Mon­day, De­cem­ber 4, dur­ing the open­ing of its new ticket of­fice in Matina, Davao City, that the new route is part of their ex­pan­sion in Visayas and Min­danao.

“We are look­ing at other des­ti­na­tions pos­si­bly the Davao to Suri­gao route, we are plan­ning to oper­ate this soon, as we are now ac­cel­er­at­ing our pres­ence in Visayas and Min­danao,” he said.

Last Novem­ber, the air­line launched the Davao to Ca­gayan de Oro (CDO), DavaoTag­bi­la­ran, Bo­hol DavaoZam­boanga flights.

The open­ing of its new ticket of­fice will serve the cus­tomers in the south­ern part of Davao City.

“This (open­ing) man­i­fests our com­mit­ment to con­tinue serv­ing our pas­sen­gers from Davao and other nearby cities and mu­nic­i­pal­i­ties,” Bautista said.

He said Davao is one of PAL’s busiest routes. PAL flies eight times daily from Manila and two to three times from Cebu.

“We are also ex­pand­ing op­er­a­tions in other des­ti­na­tions from Manila. We are ex­pect­ing two brand new 777-300ER this De­cem­ber. We will be fly­ing these planes to US, Canada and Lon­don,” he said.

“These will al­low us oper­ate non-stop flights, these air­lines will be equipped with the most mod­ern in­flight en­ter­tain­ment sys­tem,” Bautista added.

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Car­pio, who was present dur­ing the open­ing, urged PAL in jest, to of­fer more “promo fares” to which the guests in­clud­ing the PAL ex­ec­u­tives burst in laugh­ter.

Mem­bers of the lo­cal les­bian, gay, bi­sex­u­als and trans­gen­der march dur­ing their an­nual LGBT Pride pa­rade or­ga­nized by the Ami­anan Pride Coun­cil, an ad­vo­cacy net­work of var­i­ous LGBT or­ga­ni­za­tions, straight al­lies and busi­ness es­tab­lish­ments in Baguio City.
