NPA guerilla killed in Bukidnon
A communist rebel was killed while his firearm and several ammunition were seized after government troops clashed with the communist insurgents in Impasug-ong Bukidnon on Friday, January 5.
The military said troops from 403rd Infantry Brigade were conducting security operations in Barangay Bulonay when they encountered the New Peoples Army (NPA).
As a result, an NPA member was killed and his Ak-47 rifle and live bullets were recovered.
The military said the accomplishment was a result of the continuous support of the local government unit in safeguarding the people.
“The armed forces have been given the task to protect the people and the state from any threat, be it internal or external. With the cooperation and support of the community, the journey towards peace and development can be closer than we think, ”the military said.
Brigader General Eric Vinoya, 403rd Brigade commander, said the activities of the NPA combatants have been monitored in the area with the help of concerned citizens.
“Sad to say that because of the selfish interest of the ‘terrorists’ leadership who victimizes and lures in innocent people to join their money group, one NPA had to die, ”Vinoya said.
The recovered dead body will be turned over to the LGU for identification and to facilitate the burial.
“I congratulate our troops for successfully protecting this peaceful community against this terror group. This shall serve as a stern warning to all other NPA terrorists in Northern Mindanao and Caraga regions. Surrender now or face the consequences of your evil activities,” said Major General Ronald Villanueva, commander of the 4th Infantry Division.
“There will be no let up on our operation to hunt down the remaining terrorist members in this part of the country, ”Villanueva said.
The military said troops are still conducing pursuit and clearing operations in the area.
