FEAST OF THE BLACK NAZARENE
Every January 9, millions of devotees gather to celebrate the Feast of the Black Nazarene. They take part in the spectacular religious procession locally known as the “Traslacion,” during which devotees carry a replica of the statue across the Philippines. Catholics from all over the Philippines take the opportunity to be able to get close enough to touch the image in the hopes of receiving a miracle or healing. On this feast day, may we be reminded that the resiliency of Filipinos comes from the practice of our faith. Ang ka lig-on sa mga Pilipino ug labi na sa Kagayanons nga nakasinati sa Vinta, nag gikan sa atong paglaum ug pagtoo sa Ginoo. This gives me strength to continue to serve our constituents. Indeed, we are driven by our faith to be a light to others. Happy Feast Day of the Black Nazarene and may He bless us with bountiful blessings to pursue development work in Cagayan de Oro!
