REGION X Elementary Boys football team came back early in the first half and never looked back to whip Calabarzon, 3-1, at start of the Elementary Boys football action in the Palarong Pambansa at the Immaculate Conception Minor Seminary field in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur.
The Calabarzon team made up of players from formerly known Southern Tagalog Region or from provinces of Laguna, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon struck early as the Region X defense were caught napping.
But the X Boys refused to give up and came back quickly with striker Sam Salingay of Rosevale School scoring the equalizer two minutes later to finish the first half in equal footing.
It was then an all X Boys show in the second half as the Calabarzon Boys lost steam. Central defender Earl Cotamora of Ginggoog led the Region X charge as he put them ahead after he struck from long distance. His long distance shot was just too strong and too far for the Calabarzon goalkeeper.
Striker Vinson Manubag of Rosevale School then cemented Region X victory when he scored after receiving a cross from the left flank.
The Region X had many more attempts to score more goals but instead hit the cross bar twice and the goal post once.
The three goals however were enough to give them the much needed win over the bigger but lesser talented boys from Calabarzon.
