Vice Mayor Joaquin ‘Kikang’ Uy ad­mit­ted that for­mer vice mayor Ian Ace­nas vis­ited him to try to in­vite him to join the op­po­si­tion party.

Uy how­ever said he re­jected this of­fer and jok­ingly said, the “courtship was not enough” to sway him as he “is in love with the mayor”.

“Bitaw, dili nako ikalimod, tin­uod si for­mer VM Ace­nas nibisita sa buhatan, it was a friendly visit, bisan pa man ug im­bitaron naa man ang mayor nato ug nag­tuo kita sa iyang ad­min­is­trasyon, we will fol­low him,” Uy said.

Mean­while, for­mer Coun­cilor Roger Aba­day, one of Uy’s chal­lenger dur­ing the 2016 elec­tions is mak­ing a po­lit­i­cal come­back, this time un­der City Mayor Os­car Moreno’s slate.

Speak­ing to re­porters, Aba­day said his de­ci­sion to team up with the ad­min­is­tra­tion party is be­cause he saw how the ad­min­is­tra­tion

trans­formed lives by bring­ing ser­vices closer to peo­ple.

Aba­day will run as coun­cilor for the 1st district.

In­cum­bent Coun­cilor Eric Sal­cedo for his part, who is seek­ing re­elec­tion thanked Mayor Moreno for still ac­cept­ing him, Coun­cilor Teo­dulfo Lao, and Aba­day in his party de­spite leav­ing him in 2016 to join for­mer 2nd District Rep­re­sen­ta­tive Ru­fus Ro­driguez.
