Businessman Michel Lhuiller expresses intent in being hands-on Provincial Sports Commissioner

-

THE Cebu Province Sports Commission (CPSC) is making small changes in the composition of its commissioners on the second term of Gov. Hilario Davide II.

Based on Davide’s EO No.7 series of 2016, businessman Michel Lhuillier will be keeping his post as CPSC chairman.

“We already talked to Mr. Lhuillier about his appointment and he is very willing to extend his support to the commission. He is open to attend our (commissioner’s) meeting every week. He promised to be a hands-on chairman this time. I think we can move to a better direction this time,” Atty. Ramil Abing, who also got to keep his post as the executive director of the CPSC, told Sun.Star Cebu.

Lhuillier was present during the monthly commissioner’s meeting last Thursday.

Actively playing a role in the province’s sports body is Provincial Administrator Atty. Mark Tolentino, who just made the commission stronger in nature.

Aside from Tolentino, Davide also named to the CPSC Board Member Miguel Antonio Magpale, who is the chairman of the committee on youth and sports at the Provincial Board, and Christopher Barricuatro, the chairman on the committee on education.

Being the chairman of sports in the Provincial Board, Magpale was appoint- ed vice chairman and will preside over the commissioner’s meeting in the absence of Lhuillier.

Holdovers from last commission were Celestino “Tining” Martinez III, who is now chairman on budget and appropriation, Nenita Jaralve of DepEd Cebu Province and the private sector representatives are still the same led by Lhuillier, Dr. Danilo Villadolid, Nimrod Quiñones, Randolph Su and Atty. Ismael Trinidad Jr.

The appointment also includes naming Sports Officer I Jennifer Zapanta as the commission secretary.

According to Abing, CPSC is moving toward improvement of the pro- grams they have implemented in the past two years.

“We are going to intensify our talent identification program. In fact, in the coming Founding Anniversary Run on Aug. 28, we will be fielding (young) runners whom we have discovered during our series of events into the competition. Basta, we will make the difference for our youth. Our goal is only simple, to give the under-privileged but deserving kids from the municipalities and towns a chance to improve their lives by helping them get sports scholarships,” Abing said.

One of the goals of the CPSC is to build a sports stadium for the people of Cebu Province to call their own.
