Clinton’s lie; Digong’s ‘sex fixation’; Aguirre’s wig

PEOPLE ARE TALKING ABOUT...

- [bzzzzz@sunstar.com.ph or paseares@gmail.com]

... THE CLINTON-TRUMP DEBATE: Do you know the first “lie” said at the first presidential debate in the U.S. yesterday (PH time)? When Democrats’ Hillary Clinton, looking toward GOP’s Donald Trump said it was “good to be with” him on the same stage at last.

She lied, a fact-checker quipped, the first that night.

.... WHO LIED MOST: Fact-checkers at the New York Times spotted the lies mostly, if not all, from Trump who, at one time when he insisted on a repeated lie, was told by Hillary, “Donald, I know you live in your own reality.”

... BLUE, NOT RED: Why did Trump not wear his usual red power tie? He wore instead the statesman-like blue. He wanted to look, not just sound, presidential.

... NO ‘CROOKED HILLARY’: Clinton called Trump “Donald” even with the heated verbal exchange between them. Trump called Clinton “Secretary Clinton.” No, he didn’t call her “Crooked Hillary” as he did on the campaign trail. In our presidential debate, nobody would like to call any of his or her rivals by name.

... DE LIMA SEXUAL JAB

ON DUTERTE: President Duterte still had to be heard (as of this writing) in his response to Sen. Lila de Lima’s plea for him to stop attacking her and the question why he’s doing it. “May gusto ba kayo sa akin?” “What do you want from me? Do you like me?”

That after Duterte said she’d surely go to jail for the accusation of facilitating drug traffic from the national penitentiary and the suspicion that a convicted National Bilibid Prison drug lord is a “sexual asset” instead of DOJ asset.

In returning fire, de Lima is foul-baiting, the kind of questions that lures a tough man to hurl the insult, “Ikaw na lang? Excuse me, di kita type.”

... WIG FOR REAL. De Lima, firing at Digong’s pit bull in the justice department (just as Leila was PNoy’s during the Aquino term), called DOJ Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre’s evidence against her as fake as his wig.

She could be wrong on two counts: (1) As “Small Bites” columnist Eddie Barrita corrects de Lima, Aguirre’s wig is real, it’s his hair that is not. She should’ve said Aguirre’s evidence is “as fake as his hair.” (2) The slur could make Aguirre speed up his probe “to haul de Lima’s ass to jail.”

“MAY GUSTO BA KAYO SA AKIN?”
