■ AUTHORITIES TO CLOSE PART OF A RUNWAY OF THE MACTAN-CEBU INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT FOR REPAIR FOR 5 HOURS ON JULY 21

A runway of the Mactan- Cebu International Airport (MCIA) will be closed for five hours to undergo repair on July 21. “A parallel runway will be used by that time,” MCIA Information Officer Mary Ann Dimabayao told SunStar Cebu. Dimabayao yesterday said that only about 700 meters of the runway will be closed on that day. Officials of Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, the MCIA Authority, airline companies and other agencies concerned will meet to finalize the preparation. Dimabayao added that they will call for a press conference to explain what repairs will be done and to formally inform the public about the runway closure. /
