Paknaan wins as Mandaue City’s best village
Barangay Paknaan has the biggest population in Mandaue City, but it did not serve as a hindrance for the village to become the best this year.
Paknaan was awarded yesterday as the most outstanding barangay, defeating 26 other villages during Mandaue’s 48th Charter Day celebrations.
Since he started as the village chief, Paknaan Barangay Captain Malaquias Soco’s aim was to address the needs of the village.
“I did not focus on one sector only. Kung mo-level up man gani
ta kanang tanan pud (If we want to level up, everyone should be part of it),” said Soco.
The Charter Day celebration started with a mass in Mandaue City Sports and Cultural Complex. It was then followed by the awarding of outstanding City Hall workers, barangay, department heads and other personnel from the government sector.
Mayor Luigi Quisumbing, together with Vice Mayor Carlo Fortuna and members of the City Council, handed the plaques and certificates to the awardees.
