PO­LICE TO PROBE SE­CU­RITY LAPSES IN CONDO

Po­lice will look into pos­si­ble se­cu­rity lapses in Cen­tral Park Tower 2 con­do­minium af­ter a man ran amok and stabbed five peo­ple dead Tues­day. Na­tional Cap­i­tal Re­gion Po­lice Of­fice (NCRPO) di­rec­tor Os­car Al­bay­alde said the Pasay po­lice will con­duct the in­ves­ti­ga­tion. Five per­sons were killed af­ter the sus­pect, iden­ti­fied as Al­berto Garan, stabbed ev­ery­one he came across at around 6:30 p.m. Tues­day. Garan first stabbed his girl­friend Eme­lyn Sa­gun, with whom he had an ar­gu­ment. Garan threw Sa­gun off the 16th floor. Sa­gun’s body was re­cov­ered at the build­ing’s base­ment. Other vic­tims were: Dais­ery Castillo, 12; Joel Pala­cios, 70; Ligaya Dimapilis, 36; and Lete­cia Ec­si­a­gan, 50. Four per­sons were also in­jured: Bel­cris Elorde, April Joy Sa­garino, Ar­lyn Dian Corder, and Margie Mo­rales. Re­spond­ing po­lice­men cornered and killed Garan on the 22nd floor. Re­cov­ered from him was a 14-inch kitchen knife, among oth­ers. /
