■ PUNCH ON CABLE GUY PROVOKES CASE AGAINST COP
A lineman of a cable company complained against a Police Officer 3 from the Carbon Police Station who allegedly beat him up last Wednesday morning. The Investigation and Detection Management Branch (IDMB) chief, Supt. Ryan Devaras, said that the police officer was still under preventive suspension for six months, while the Office of the Ombudsman is investigating his case of simple misconduct. “He had another pending case in the Ombudsman. The lineman went to the regional headquarters and was forwarded to our office,” the official said. Devaras said that they already sent a letter to the police officer (name withheld), summoning him to face the complainant and explain himself. “The police officer’s sister was the one who had problems with their cable service and when it seemed that she was not satisfied with the lineman’s answer, the former responded. The policeman allegedly beat him up,” Devaras said. The incident happened in Sitio Kawayan, Banawa, Guadalupe last Wednesday at 9 a.m. Devaras said that the policeman has yet to meet with the complainant.
