■ EX-MAGDALO OFFICER ORDERED TO HEAD PDEA 7
The regional director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Bicol has been appointed as the agency’s director in Central Visayas. PDEA 7 officer-in-charge (OIC) Ana Lynn Hernandez-Nob confirmed yesterday that she will be replaced by Emerson Margate. Margate will be serving as a regular PDEA 7 director, not in an acting capacity. The anti-narcotics official was one of 17 former Magdalo members who were inducted as PDEA agents in May 2008. His fellow ex-rebel Jigger Montallana was appointed as PDEA 7 director in 2011. PDEA Director General Aaron Aquino’s memorandum on Margate’s appointment was sent to PDEA 7 yesterday, but it did not state the date of the turnover ceremony, which may take place next week. Former PDEA 7 Director Yogi Filemon Ruiz was appointed to head the enforcement and security service of the Bureau of Customs last Sept. 4.
