Was it Miguel’s idea?

- BOBBY NALZARO bobby@sunstar.com.ph

The “former political has-been” has been heavily criticized by the opposition councilors and netizens for using offensive and vulgar words in his Facebook account, describing the opposition’s smell to that of a woman’s genitalia. Though, he already apologized and the post was already taken down.

In his FB post the other day, the “former political has-been” said that opposition members were like the female genitalia that smells bad for blocking his plan to purchase deodorizers that will be sprayed at the material recovery facility at the Inayawan landfill to control its stench.

He admitted that he was not the one who posted it, but he is taking the responsibility because the account is his. Lone lady opposition Councilor Joy Pesquera described the post as “below the belt, literally and figuratively.” She said that being a woman, she was offended. She is contemplating of filing a case against the “former political hasbeen.” Other opposition councilors described him as very “bastos (in bad taste).”

As far as I know, the “former political has-been” does not personally manage his social media account. His son Miguel takes care of that. I think the mayor has no time for that. Managing a social media account is time-consuming. Sometimes I can read his post because some common FB friends would tag it to me. I noticed that he writes long topics and he answers all netizens’ comments, especially the positive ones. Do you think he has the time to do all those things? I doubt he is computer literate or can effectively use his smartphone.

If it was Miguel’s idea, for me, that was an insult to his mother Margot and to his wife Bea and to all women, in general. It was literally an anti-women statement. Baho ba gyud diay? Baho no pero daghan nagpatay. But if the “former political has-been” is saying that it wasn’t Miguel’s idea then I challenge him to name or produce the person who did and we will ask him/her if his/her mother’s genitalia also smells the same.

*** The “former political has-been” should consult a lawyer and a psychiatrist when he threatened to file a case of corruption against Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella for the latter’s failure to stop “has-been” mayor Michael Rama from pursuing the deals with the three giant developers that bought lots at the South Road Properties (SRP).

He challenged Labella to explain his alleged failure to convince Rama not to sell 45.2 hectares of SRP lots to SM Prime Holdings, Ayala Land Inc. and Filinvest Land. He said Labella committed corruption because of his “inaction.”

What corruption is he talking about? The participation of Labella, if there was any, was to preside over that particular session when the resolution authorizing Rama to enter into a contract with the buyers was passed.

I doubt if Labella even voted in that resolution. He could have if there was a tie.

When we talk of corruption, it only exist when the deal is anomalous. Were the deals with SRP buyers anomalous? He has been talking that he will sue Rama because it was anomalous and he wants to rescind the contracts. But until now he and his lawyers have not initiated any move to file a case and rescind the contract. Puro lang estorya wala’y aksyon. Nayabag naman gyud ni siya, uy.
