Cebu 5th most pop­u­lous prov­ince, says cen­sus

Cebu Prov­ince is one of the top five most pop­u­lous prov­inces in the coun­try, ac­cord­ing to the 2015 pop­u­la­tion cen­sus of the Philip­pine Statis­tics Au­thor­ity (PSA).

Cebu, ex­clud­ing its three highly ur­ban­ized cities, has a to­tal pop­u­la­tion of 2.93 mil­lion, mak­ing it fifth among the five prov­inces in the coun­try with the big­gest pop­u­la­tions.

First on the list is Cavite with 3.7 mil­lion while Bu­la­can came in sec­ond at 3.3 mil­lion.

La­guna Prov­ince placed third with three mil­lion while Pan­gasi­nan came in next with 2.95 mil­lion.

In Cen­tral Visayas, Cebu Prov­ince is also the most densely pop­u­lated of the four prov­inces.

Cebu Prov­ince has 594 peo- ple per square kilo­me­ter.

For highly ur­ban­ized cities, the cities of Man­daue and Lapu-Lapu in Cebu came first and sec­ond, re­spec­tively, in terms of pop­u­la­tion den­sity.

Based on the 2015 Cen­sus, Man­daue City has 14,402 peo­ple per square kilo­me­ter while Lapu-Lapu City has 7,024 peo­ple per square kilo­me­ter.

For the com­po­nent cities in the re­gion, Tal­isay City in Cebu is the most densely pop­u­lated, with 5,710 peo­ple liv­ing per square kilo­me­ter.

Three leg­isla­tive dis­tricts in Cebu have the big­gest pop­u­la­tion in Cen­tral Visayas.

The first dis­trict of Cebu ranked first with a pop­u­la­tion of 709,660, fol­lowed by the 5th dis­trict at 558,548. Third is the 6th Dis­trict with a pop­u­la­tion of 553, 894.

The 2nd and 7th dis­tricts of Cebu are two of three leg­isla­tive dis­tricts in Cen­tral Visayas with the least num­ber of pop­u­la­tion.

The 7th dis­trict of Cebu came in sec­ond to the lone dis­trict of Siqui­jor, with a pop­u­la­tion of 214, 364. The 2nd dis­trict of Cebu has a pop­u­la­tion of 239,820.

For the mu­nic­i­pal­i­ties in Cen­tral Visayas, Cor­dova is the most densely pop­u­lated with 3,482 peo­ple liv­ing per square kilo­me­ter.

The 2015 Cen­sus of Pop­u­la­tion is the 14th con­ducted by the National Gov­ern­ment since the first cen­sus in 1903.

Around 90,000 enu­mer­a­tors, 23,000 team su­per­vi­sors and 5,000 cen­sus area su­per­vi­sors con­ducted the 2015 pop­u­la­tion cen­sus na­tion­wide.
